The Mayor met with members representing the Black Country Chamber of Commerce as well as other business leaders from the region.

There was a wide ranging discussion covering the industrial strategy – the government’s proposed 10 year plan for the economy – transport infrastructure, skills and training, as well as devolution and local government reform and devolution.

Martyn Richardson hosted the breakfast meeting and said:

“We were very pleased to welcome Richard back to our offices and to facilitate such an important discussion with Black Country businesses.  Richard clearly recognises the powerhouse that is the Black Country and appreciates the contribution it makes to the wider economy.
“As a business that started its life in the Black Country and now has a business portfolio across the world we are always keen to make our voices heard.  It’s also excellent to hear the perspectives from other business leaders about the challenges and opportunities we all balance on a daily basis.”
